On February 1, Marion Wierda will start as the program manager of the NWB Fund. She takes over from Jasper Luiten, who will begin on January 17 at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (DGWB) as a senior policy officer within the climate adaptation and governance cluster.
In recent years, the fund has actively contributed to the development of the Blue Deal program, including conducting research, offering training programs, co-financing YEPers, and establishing the KIWI program. Over the past year, the fund has sharpened its focus by concentrating on climate adaptation within international water board work. Marion now stands at the beginning of this exciting implementation and development phase.
The board, program committee, and program office wish her the best of luck and look forward to a fruitful collaboration!
Marion introduces herself...
I have worked in the water board sector for nearly 25 years, the last 16 years as a manager at Waterschap Rivierenland. I am trained as an engineer, but I also have a background in public administration and anthropology, and I speak several languages. Through the Blue Deal South Africa, I got involved with international water projects, and it captured my heart. We can contribute so much from Dutch experience in water management to solving problems elsewhere in the world. Climate adaptation is also an issue that can only be effectively tackled internationally. And let's not forget, we gain a lot from foreign projects, such as knowledge, competence development, and enthusiastic employees. Personally, it challenges me in a whole new way, and I wish the same for other colleagues. This position offers the chance to work on all of this, together with the partners of the NWB Fund. I'm excited!
