Create a compelling short film about climate adaptation in your international water project and win the NWB Award 2024. The winner will receive a cash prize, a publication, and eternal fame on the Wall of Fame at the Dutch Water Authorities’ office. Take part and send in your video before October 1st to the NWB Fund.
Once again this year, the NWB Award will be presented: a prize from the NWB Fund for the most engaging video about international water authority work. The water authorities are doing important work – not just in the Netherlands, but also abroad. And the world should know. The NWB Award draws attention to this.
By now, the NWB Award has become a tradition. The award was first presented in 2022. That year’s theme was "Proud of Water." The winning video showed efforts to combat water hyacinth in Blesbokspruit, South Africa. The 2023 theme was "Smart Collaboration with Stakeholders." Blue Deal Peru won with a video about improving water access for rice farming. In 2024, the focus is on climate adaptation – a central theme in the NWB Fund’s efforts and a common thread in international water projects.
Again this year, a professional jury will select a shortlist from all submissions. The jury focuses mainly on whether the video tells a compelling story – something people want to keep watching and share enthusiastically – alongside a meaningful message about climate adaptation. We ask for videos of no more than 2 minutes. These should be amateur videos, not professional productions; however, some professional help with editing is allowed. Participants are also encouraged to join the video training provided by the Blue Deal programme office to improve their skills.
The award ceremony will take place during the closing event of the KIWI programme on October 18th. All staff of the water authorities and international partners may vote in advance via the digital voting system introduced last year. These votes count for 50%. The audience at the KIWI event will also vote, which counts for the remaining 50%. The combination of both results determines the winner (much like the Eurovision Song Contest).
The winner will receive a cash prize of €5,000 for the winning project, a photo on the Wall of Fame at the Dutch Water Authorities’ office in The Hague, and a publication in the magazine Het Waterschap.
